Solitary Restaurant and Kiosk

Solitary is a romantic turn of the century Blue Mountains cottage decorated in fresh contemporary tones. It occupies one of the most fortunate sites in the Blue Mountains with views which extend uninterruptedly over the Jamison Valley and Mount Solitary all the way to the Southern Highlands. Solitary offers exquisite highly awarded dining in our restaurant, and casual indoor/outdoor dining in our Kiosk.

Named as one of Australia’s top 5 eating destinations by Lonely Planet Guide.

The Solitary Kiosk

Solitary Kiosk is open every day and offers an informal alternative to the renowned Solitary Restaurant - a simpler style of food, thoughtfully conceived and carefully prepared (we wouldn't compromise our ideals by serving anything less than that) - a cut or three above an ordinary café, with a delightful ambience and the same unique views of the Mountains the restaurant offers. The Kiosk is licensed. A weekend or public holiday breakfast with the shifting cloudscape, the endless clean air, the currawongs and parrots is really delightful.

The Kiosk was opened in October 2002 as a tribute to the building's history - it was originally built in 1913 as the Leura Falls Kiosk. The Kiosk walls are adorned with transcribed oral accounts and anecdotes from both previous occupants and visitors to the site from 1913 to the present.

Solitary Kiosk stands astride the scenic and varied Prince Henry Cliff walk that follows the cliff line between Echo Point, the Leura Cascades and Gordon Falls. It's the perfect location for well-earned refreshment on the walk.

Solitary Restaurant

Solitary enjoys one of the most fortunate sites in all the Mountains; its dining room and garden offer the most magnificent views imaginable, overlooking Mount Solitary, Kings Tableland, and the Jamison Valley all the way to the Southern Highlands. The building is heritage listed; a characteristically slate hipped-roofed, weatherboard Blue Mountains cottage set in a garden.

The interior can, perhaps, be best described as light, airy, quietly sophisticated and tranquil, while respecting the history of the building.
