Nambucca Macnuts is a co-operative that is owned and run by macadamia farmers in the Nambucca Valley. Back in the 1970's many servicemen retired to the mid-north coast and began planting macadamia trees. As the trees grew, they decided it would be advantageous to purchase and set up a processing plant to help with the production and marketing of their crop. This factory was opened in 2000 and has a small retail outlet. Macadamia nuts are the main product is primarily raw nuts as well as macadamia oil and a macadamia spread (like peanut butter) also made in the factory.
There are some value-added products and these include different flavoured macadamia nuts: Honey Roast, Wasabi, Dry Roasted with Salt, Mexican Chilli, Bush Spices, BBQ, and Italian Herbs.
Pallets of macadamia nuts are sold to fine food wholesalers in Sydney and Melbourne. Nambucca Macnuts are also sold in many local cafes and restaurants and value-added products are sold to wholesalers for various markets. The nuts are also exported to Japan.
Statewide delivery and mail order available. |
